Imagineering 2 a Better World with Catherine Elliss

Catherine Elliss is the Founder and CEO of Imagineering 2 a Better World. She is a Social Entrepreneur, Chief Imagineer, Author and Coach/Consultant who is passionate about joining with others to imagineer a better world.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business out of a passion to lead by example and to inspire and empower people to create a better world, starting with the individual. Originally, it began as an outreach to inspire people to imagine their better world, with the intention to become a not-for-profit organisation. However, it did not take long for me to realise that it was dividing my focus, thus it became a social enterprise for profit, with some services still being offered pro-bono plus having an overall goal to create a better world.

What’s the story behind your business?

I had reached a crossroads in life, having overcome major challenges, and achieving some successes, yet I still felt I was not living life to its full potential. So, I challenged myself to identify the key issues holding me back, and then set about documenting my journey to overcome them, especially the ones regarding the relationship between love and money.

What are the benefits of your products and services?

The benefits of my services are inspiring and empowering people to achieve life balance between money and love. It is so rewarding to see people gaining control over their lives, especially their finances and emotions, thus gaining some peace.

How do you help your customers?

I help my customers via the 4 step Imagineering 2 a Better World strategy. Using the 4 steps of Imagine – Solution – Commit – Partner, I inspire and empower people to change their world. The 4 key components are Vision, Character, Stewardship and finally Intimacy/ Vulnerability.

We also have books such as Prosper As Your Soul Prospers: A Holistic Approach to Basic Money Management from a Soul & Spirit Perspective, which is a self-development book aimed directly at people looking to improve their emotional and financial intelligences, suitable for older teens, younger adults, and those in transition. I wrote this book after 15 years of successfully teaching and coaching these principles. It forms the basis of one of our coaching packages for individuals. For groups, we run interactive seminars. I am also a well-versed speaker on other topics, such as powerful personal leadership and Imagineering, where people, including groups, can come to agreement to identify their chosen multi-layered vision and develop a plan to achieve it.

Our latest book is a graphic novel in anime – manga style, The Man Who Came Back, suitable for a similar age group but with the fun, vibrant manga style it is also suitable for children from 10 years old and older. It is about a young man who seems to have the perfect Instagram lifestyle, yet upon returning home, the reader comes to realise that not all is as it seems. He is mentored by a wise Kung Fu master who teaches him some secrets to success.  Some of the key themes are family, overcoming fatherlessness and entitlement. This story, which I wrote years ago, and have used with hundreds of people prior to publishing it, has helped older teens and younger adults to change their thinking for the better.

What is unique about you and your business?

It is based on my personal journey, my philosophy and teaching, coaching, and consulting –and using these principles of proven success. I write, publish, speak, train, and even sing about these principles of vision, character, stewardship, and intimacy/authenticity.  It is creative and fun.

Why are you passionate about your area of work?

I know that what I do works with people from developing nations to people from every sphere in developed countries, especially Australia.

How do you keep yourself and your team motivated?

Encouraging and having fun with each other, celebrating wins, keeping the purpose central.

Why do you love being a local Hornsby Shire business?

It is where we have chosen to do life.  Some places have a real village feel which is wonderful in a big city like Sydney. When we feel part of the community, we want to give back.

Why are you a member of the Hornsby Chamber?

I believe business is the fuel that drives the other sectors that come together to form our communities. The Chamber works with government and the various sectors and it is vital.

Why do you think small businesses are so important to the local communities and Australian economy?

Pre-COVID statistics reports that 44% of people are employed by small business which is the largest employer nationally. It is also a vehicle to harness our dreams to create our better world.

Who inspires you and why?

People who have overcome. People who do the right (or just) thing because it is the right thing to do, no matter if unpopular at a particular moment in time.  This could be as simple as youth, or anyone else, standing up against bullies.
