Greg Wilkinson and Mandy Taylor’s mortgage broking service is second to none. At Smartline, they work with their clients to ensure they understand their home loan options, know exactly how much they can borrow and ensure they choose the right mortgage and the right lender to suit their needs.

Why did you start your business?

We started the business to support others through the process of obtaining loans to buy property, vehicles and assets for their businesses. It can be a challenge to manage and more often than not, people are so busy with their lives and families, that going through the loan process can be daunting for many.

What’s the story behind your business?

We both used to work for banks and would often be accused of ‘over servicing’ our clients.  Therefore, we set our business up to ensure that we could take the time to support and help others through the process as it can be overwhelming. Too many people are turned away or declined when applying for loans because of lack of knowledge or experienced staff who otherwise don’t have the time to spend to search all avenues. As brokers, we are not loyal to any bank or lender nor limited to products available for clients.

What are the benefits of your products and services?

We take care of the whole process, not just the loan. We work with all parties involved on behalf of the client such as their accountant and solicitor.

How do you help your customers?

When many are turned away, we often can say ‘yes’ OR we take the time to help put a plan in place with customers so that they can work towards being in the right financial position to obtain loans. Existing clients are never forgotten and each year we review their position to ensure it’s the right loan for them and advise continuously throughout the life of the loan.

What is unique about you and your business?

By supporting loan clients, we also support local charities or causes, because from every loan we write, a percentage of our commission, is donated to charities throughout the year.

Why are you passionate about your area of work?

We don’t like to see people taken advantage of and want to ensure that those who are vulnerable are taken care of.

How do you keep yourself and your team motivated?

Our reward is making dreams come true in many situations and the praise received for a job well done. The best compliment is to have us referred to other family or friends.

Why are you a member of the Hornsby Chamber?

We joined to strengthen and grow relationships among small businesses.

Why do you think small businesses are so important to the local communities and Australian economy?

I We know that 40% of this country’s income is from small business like ours. Without small businesses the economy would crash. With small business owners – they tend to care more about the social economy, tend to be family businesses and family orientated which means they are more likely to help local communities and charities thrive and survive.  Therefore, the well-being overall of local people, their businesses and what they do supports local communities and in turn supports this great country.
